(i) x, y are real numbers satisfying

log_3[x+7] + 2*cos[y + 2003] = 4

find ( |x-2| + |x - 722| )/6 , justify your answer.

log_3 is logarithm base 3.

(ii) explain the significance of your answer to (i).

Weird one ;)
i) x>722-->(2x-724 )/6
x<2--> (724-2x)/6
2<=x<=722-->120
ii) If x,y satisfy equation then:
since -2<=2cos(y-2003)<=2
--> 6=> log_3(x+7)=>2 (to satisfy equation)
--> 722=>x=>2
--> (lx-2l + lx-722l)/6=120
More significance???:p
