misericodia, are you in the community or selective half of Chatswood High? just out of interest, seeing as I live close to it and don't actually know a thing abuot it.... And using Chatswood library as a study place may help--it's better than Gordon, which is a picking up/hooking up and socialising circus!

So you would like to be in a selective or something? You can still apply now, some schools accept new year 12s :)

Good luck anyway, misericodia! I'm sure there'll be some nice people in the selective half who are not snobs and are willing to help you! :)

EDIT: This is a disclaimer--not to say selective people are snobs--many that I have met are not but there are bound to be one or two who fancy themselves very intelligent just cos they're in a selective school.

I hate to see people struggling along who really do care about their marks and achievements. I have a pretty demanding workload and also live independently with a partner, trust me i know how sometimes it seems as if there is no solution. Basically it sounds as if you have your parents working against you by threatening to send you back to Japan. They will need to understand that wherever you are you will need to be happy and feel supported, and everything else becomes a struggle until those needs are met. It sounds to me as if your dedication to your school work will get you far no matter how well you do in the HSC. As has been said before, there are so many ways to study psych without having to be accepted and study AT a uni. I'm at a southern cross campus in coffs harbour doing yr 11 and 12, and it's made me realise that anybody has the opportunity to get a UAI just by siitting one exam. Southern Cross lets you sit whats called a STAT exam at the age of 18 (most places say 21-25) which gives you a mark thats converted to a UAI and accepted by any uni! Otherwise there is always distance education or even take up a general arts degree and take up psych in 2nd year. At the end of the day you have your whole life ahead of you, focus on being the best and happiest person you can and the rest will fall into place. KNOW you're incredible and you deserve so much more than this!
