i wish i knew where to start studyin 4 cafs.. everything is everywhere... i'll probably just summarise things and read over stuff, what i don't know i'll write down and read over again later. Then i guess ill find alot of questions to answer and practise with.

does anyone know if we need to study ZIFT (Zygote Intro Fallopian Transfer)???? even though it isnt it good to know it in case we get an extended answer on something relating to IVF and GIFT?? this is from parenting and caring.. can someone help me?

well we really only have to know the syllabuses but it would look good in extended response and we are meant to know changing trends to things so i'd be studying up on it abit just for my knowledge, it wouldnt hurt.

how long is everyone's notes? i have a fair bit, i am worried if it is a bit too much. what electives are people doing?

i do individuals and work... i have so many notes its crazy.. i wish i could go back in time and summarise..im going to go get the text book off my teacher first day they go back and make sure i have everything!
maybe we should start a study group and ask lots of questions..if you people dont mind helping your competition

thats a good idea. we should make this thread like the one in the legal studies forum, first person posts a question, next person answers it and posts their own question etc etc... not a really hard/detailed question either (best to just pull things off the syllabus). anyone want to do that??

yeah i think that is a great idea, but we should aim for the trouble areas, such as right now i am having trouble creating management strategies for multiple role expectations of parents and carers, i have all the work-related ones but i'm having trouble with making up other ones.....

i remember doing that in class! but my teacher did it like on a last day i think so i wrote it down on a scrap bit of paper..that i obviously lost.. theres like steps you take like figuring out what all your roles are, ways to get around them like house cleaners, baby sitter, part-time work, evening out roles between parents etc, then you have a trial period and see if it works.
I'm going to go into school and ask my teacher again when school is back.

What exactly do you mean by other ones?
Like taking the kids to sport or cleaning, preparing dinner and for carers not having time for social life ??

oh and is anyone studying Individuals and work? if so i so don't understand all the regulations and entitlements for workers.. i only know paternity and maternity.. could anyone mention a few and what they mean?

yeh my notes are about 20 pages per topic, except for research metho, im not sure how much detail i should go into that or just look over it, its only in multi and short answers.. but i guess those are the easier questions who need to know just for bonus points. how much do you think you will write for the long answer questions?

how not cool is it that our exam is the day after english, one of my friends has all theirs in the first week then just maths the next

thats 30 pages for all the topics together.. as in all my cfs notes are 30 pages all up. i dont do it very detailed but i guess different things work for different people.

do you have the excel guide?? they should be in there.. just off the syllabus and off the top of my head:

Regulations and entitlements

– carers’, maternity, paternity, long service, sick and annual leave : pretty self-explanatory, these are just the regular leaves that employees and entitled to e.g. after a certain amount of years working for one company (i think its 10) you get long service leave, time off work.. annual leave is just the leave everyone is entitled to each year (3 weeks??), dont quote me on those time frames

– Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action: this is basically saying that all people have equal opportunity to be employed, i.e. cant be discriminated against based on age, sex, culture etc. affirmative action is positive discrimination (e.g. special training programs for A&TSIs in order to give them equal oppurtunity to enter the workforce)

– Enterprise Agreements: enterprise aggreements are negotiations relating to conditions of employment, either made between employer and employee, or employer and a trade union on the employees behalf

hey im not sure who asked about the multile roles thing because i really couldnt be botherered reading over the posts again..but there is only three stages..

A.Time
*time management is importan for both home and working lives
*spend time organising and planning will effect the efficiency of the job/s done
*four basic rules of time management
1.keep ahead of ongoing tasks
2.set priority list
3.do not overload each day with more than can be handled
4.organise in advance the things to be done
*these rules are useful at both home and work ((and studying for us;o)))..effective use of time will enhance a persons wellbeing
*poor time management can lead to tasks mounting up, which can lead to increased stress
*in the work situation, experts have claimed that it is possible to save up to to hours each day by changing inefficient work practices. Some of these are:
1.poor planning and goal seting
2.personal disorganisation
3.not delegating work properly
4.leaving tasks unfinished
5.socialising
6.putting of work to do later
7.having meetings that do not achieve their aims
8.completeing tasks efficienlty

B.Managing energy
*three basic rules of good health that help maintain energy levels:
1.eating sensibly, with a nourishing balanced diet
2.be sure to have the required amount of sleep each night
3.allow adequate time for relaxation, including holidays, recreation and time with loved ones
*maintaining good health provides the firmest basic possible for the effective management of energy

C.Managing Resources
*one of the most obvious is the income or wage
*work should be able to leave enough time for things such as family and recreation, or other desired interests that may be important to people
*if these are not in balance than the individual may use a resource to help balance things...for example:
1.using income to pay for household help
2.buying convinience foods
*the advantages of the savings in time would need to be weighed against the disadvantage of having les money to soend on other things
*the decisions and choices made about these resources depends on the individual circumstances and priorities

that is awesome, thank you very much it is different to what i have, i had focused on using flexible work patterns and using informal and formal resources. i have written about 20-30 pages per topic, but for me, i like everything to be together, so that includes summaries of newspaper articles and all that. i study individuals and work, i have trouble with equal employment opportunity and affirmative action, can anyone explain it?

All the entitlments like paid leave, paid holidays etc. Also, things like Equal Opp., OH&S, for regulations.

I'm finding it really hard to know everything in depth, it seems the question could come form anywhere. For examply greivance procedures that's not even in the text book!
