ECON110: Macroeconomic Principles
This is an introductory unit in the principles of macroeconomics. Topics covered include: the economic problem, methodology in economics, the goods market(national income accounts, the income-expenditure model, consumption, investment, multipliers), the money market, interactions between the goods and money markets, the external sector (balance of payments, exchange rate determination), the financial sector (aspects of finance, money creation), government policy (fiscal and monetary policies), and inflation and unemployment (types and theories of inflation and unemployment).

ECON111: Microeconomic Principles
This is an introductory level unit in microeconomics. The unit is concerned with explaining how economic agents respond to incentives, and how prices by transmitting information facilitate decision making. Topics covered include: consumer choice and demand analysis; the firm and its production and costs; market structures from perfect competition to monopoly; factor markets; income distribution, poverty and discrimination; welfare economics; and market failure and microeconomic reform.

STAT170: Introductory Statistics
This unit provides a broad introduction to statistical concepts and data analysis techniques. The unit is basically concerned with the development of an understanding of statistical practice and is illustrated by a study of those techniques most commonly used in the sciences, social sciences and humanities.
Whilst this unit may be taken as a terminating unit in statistics, it provides only basic statistical knowledge. Students intending to complete a major in statistics, or those wishing to acquaint themselves with the practical application of statistical techniques, are advised to include the units STAT270 and STAT273 in their program.
Topics covered in STAT170 include data collection methods, data quality, data summarisation and statistical models like the normal distribution followed by sampling distributions and statistical inferences about means, proportions and quantiles. Also studied are methods of analysis relating to comparisons, counted data and relationships, including regression and correlation.
Use is made of statistical computer packages for handling and analysing data along with word processing for reporting the results. However, no prior computing knowledge is assumed.

ECON141: Introductory Econometrics
All Economics students are required to include ECON141 as the minimum level of econometrics undertaken in their degree program. ECON141 is the minimum econometric prerequisite for ECON311. Students who wish to specialise in Marketing or Finance are also required to include ECON141 in their program.
ECON141 introduces students to basic econometric techniques employed by economists in the analysis of economic relationships. These techniques are also used extensively in marketing and finance.
In addition to its role as a basis for programs of study in economics, marketing and finance, ECON141 is the foundation econometric unit for students who wish to undertake a program of study in applied econometrics.
Topics covered include: estimation and hypothesis testing; simple and multiple regression; forecasting; the interpretation and evaluation of regression models, including an elementary discussion of non-linear modelling, heteroscedasticity, auto-correlation, multicollinearity and specification error; the use of categorical or qualitative data in regression models; structural change in economic relationships; and seasonal effects in time series models.
Emphasis is placed throughout the unit on the application of econometric techniques and the interpretation of estimated results rather than formal theoretical proofs and derivations. The emphasis on application rather than theory means that ECON141 is a learn-by-doing unit. Estimated results are obtained using an econometric computer program. Attention is then focused on the interpretation and evaluation of the estimated results. Numerous illustrative examples and applications drawn from economics, marketing and finance are discussed in the lecture and tutorial program.

u would not believe it man...i put maq first, but the NSW cutoff is much lower. But i figure since I work at Microsoft which is at North Ryde...might as well stay with Maq. Plus i see some really nice chicks at maq centre.

yep...econ110,econ111,comp115 (i wouldnt advise you to do this bro, just do isys123 if you have to...), stat171 (you're goin to be doing stat170 which is different), math133, accg105 (you'll probably do this unit, its in 2nd sem)..zahid said:

yeah I told my manger I am leaving...she gave me a week more, plus i am working tomorrow (get paid 2.5 times the normal rate), and i scored another part time job with ANZ Bank for 3 days a week.CrashOveride said:

What to have to know/need to get a job with ANZ, coz none of us have graduated?. Like do you help out with admin or something similar?
