I got 91 back in 2003.

Generally around 2-3% of the students get a Band 6 in the State. The top mark is usually 95-96.

nice survivor, any tips tho? my problem is my assessment mark is in the 80's. Which could mean, band 6 is most likely impossible.

I think just write more and let your teacher read over it.

If you know the texts well and understand why different techniques are used to convey meaining in each of the prescribed and supplementary texts, you will get a Band 5. To get band 6, you really need to watch your grammar because that's what sets a band 5 and a band 6 apart.

I got 94 for ESL last year (2006). It isn't impossible, just need to get your teacher to read over your stuffs for you.

Er...I'll have HSC next year so I don't have so many experiences as you guyz. Anyway, Band 6 is always possible. Heaps of people have got band 6 for Advanced and Standard, why can't we then?

I do agree with mismatch 'cuz I've got all my work checked and corrected by my teachers since the beginning of this year...Have to say that helps a lot. Good luck!

no you can't...I think it's for ppl who are born in non-English speaking countries and haven't been to Australia for more than 5 years....


yeh getting band 6 in ESL is possible..I got a band 6 for 07 HSC and there are 4 girls in my year got band 6s for ESL...
you just need to put more effort in....

band 6 is not really far from hand so believe in urself, generate good ~ creative idea for your essays. and do a lot of reading if u can.

anyway, im curious to know how many ppl acutally got b6, saw newspaper few days ago, a guy who got 92 in esl is actually ranked 8 in state..

Er...if you don't mind, can anyone tell me your UAI and your specific HSC results for each subject? I'd appreciate as I really need any related info asap to have a clearer view of what the heck I'm rushing my head into. TIA.

P/S: In total, how many got band 6s, exactly?...And yeah, what I want to say is band 6 is not something that just recurs in your dream night in night out. Quod erat Demonstrandum.

i got 92 ESL and 98.75 uai
i did 4 units math too ^^ but my math marks is just low band 6 ~92
try do language and science, they scales well !

btw deborah zhao , that guy who gets 92 in ESl ranked 8th in state in UAI or in ESL?
