I doubt 92 will get you a ranking of 8 in ESL. It must have been a mistake.

The top mark this year was 97. And 2-3% of the ESL students received a Band 6 result in ESL this year.

yeah, that must be a mistake. 21 achieved UAI 100 this year so zhao (or whoever he is) can't be ranked 8th in terms of UAI. Plus as you got 92, you must have been ranked 8th like him. Therefore, that's just a baseless rumour. Whatever, congratulations! 98.75 is pretty high. I didn't expect any ESL students to have been achieving that rank.

Anyway, aiming high is surely important. Wheee...

i have a question:

for the past few years, do those people who achieve band 6( in particular top 10), by any chance go to a school that is in top 100 in the state?

I want to know, whther your school rank affects the chance for u getting band 6?

Thank you in advance

Your school rank does not generally affect your overall HSC results. For the past 7 years, students from both public, selective and private have been placed on the Top 10 list.

The two most important factors are how you perform in the external exam as well as your class rank (how you compare with your peers in your own school). Whether your school is in the top 100 has no direct bearing on whether you can top the course or not in the HSC.
