STAT170 IS KILLING ME! Especially this weeks lecture on standard distribution and z-scores and probability.. i have gone over the ilecture 2 times and have tried the gnats and STILL DON'T GET IT. was wondering if anyone here has done the workshops at the numeracy center?? I hear they are free so i'm thinking why not.. but just want to know if it's worth it (i mean it's on a saturday!) Any info would be much appreciated. Cheers

the workshops were good for me, they expand on the topics (rather than just going over basic maths).

If your having trouble, i definitely recommend you go to one (but remember, it costs 5 bucks).

Find a friend. :)
It isn't, conceptually, too difficult. One of those things where you go, "Ahhhhh..." at the end when you get it.

edit: I want to tutor this subject. If interested, PM me.

If you're having trouble I'm sure it will be helpful. You can also go to the workshop in your own time when they have people there for stat170 and get help with single questions, which might help you because you will get 1 on 1 help

$5/workshop or for the rest of the semester or something?

I'm considering since I'm getting screwed over in ACST101 (ehehe)

And how do you know when they have lessons/how long they go for etc?

I don't even know where it is.. I heard C5A somewhere?

hey i just checked the stat170 website

Week 4 material:
Normal Distribution:
Saturday 25th March 10am - 11am: C5A301
Monday 27th March 1pm - 2pm: E5A 118

NOTE THAT THESE WORKSHOPS ARE FREE

Maybe the $5 workshops are something else?

Anyway i've decided i'll go to one workshop, if it doesn't help i'll get a tutor (thanks for the offers but i already have someone in mind) Would a tutor be able to help me with my practise GNATS? What about with questions i have on my assignment? Are they allowed to do that?

how did u end up going in the gnat?

I haven't attempted the online gnat yet because i still can't figure out how to do most of question 9. I have tried and tried, but i just don't get it. Do you know how to do that part?
