In my experience the UNSW Asians seem more ABC types than FOB ones anyway, for the most part. Particularly true for selective high school kids going into UNSW - they barely know their mando/canto and barely read/write Chinese.

When I went to UNSW I'd expected my mandarin level to get better due to the perception of more fobs. Turns out its like going to a tutoring college all over again (seeing the same ppl from tutoring and other social circles and what not).

I don't really see this as a problem. Most Asian Australians (the teenage to uni ones anyway):
A) Have typical Aussie accents (some even sound Lebanese lol)
B) Do everything White Aussies do (except they give education a higher preference of course)
C) Are bananas........ yellow on the outside and white on the inside?

Well, that's with my experience anyway.
That's because asian does not equal foreign.
