I was just wondering if i either get into my desired business course(BBA) at macq or sibt my mathathematical capilities arent up to standard since im only doin gen maths would i be disadvantaged through these units seems like quarter of these subjects are leainng to maths or should i consider other options???
like does the maths get harder in 2nd n 3rd yrs

and what youd recogn the easiest and hardest units here?
what is a Cr average is it above 75? I need a GPA of 2.5 to transfer

i did general maths as well... anyway i've done most or am currently doing these subjects...so in order of easiness i would put

MKTG101- textbook subject just like business studies
BBA111- textbook subject! very interesting the most interesting!
COMP123<-- this subject is completely easy but its hard to get a D but a C shud be easy enough
STAT170- keep up with the weekly assignments and do a shitload of past papers and you'll breeze through it
BBA102- this subject isn't hard but its hard to put any effort into this subject
BBA103- it seems hard when your doing it, but the final exam is easy
ACCG105- im doing this now and i hate it, absolutely boring!
ACST101 <--- i failed this lol gotta do it again next year

as i'm not a maths person either i found stats and economics related subjects pretty painful - not because u need all these random equations from high school but because i found that my mind doesn't really work that way. i'm sure u won't be disadvantaged in terms of needing to know lots of trig or equations etc, but if u're mind doesn't work that way (ie u're likely to get better marks at humanities) u may end up finding it harder to do stats and economics based subjects - at least that was my experience.

marketing fundamentals was brilliant - if u did hsc business studies it was so wonderfully easy - but they have a strange arbitrary way of marking the final exam - u had a definate advantage if u memorised the egs of multiple choice q&a they gave u which involved useless stats on cocacola etc

I also did General maths and did/am doing marketing 101 and bba111. Both are theory-based and muchos easy provided you put in the effort to memorise the terminology definitions.

accg105 is ok, I did 100 which is way harder...

ACST 101 u better have a good understanding of algebra and stuff, because i did 2 u maths and alot is based upon the HSC work there. ACST101 is very maths orientated, u will be using arithmetic and geometric progression and perpetuities.
None stop calculations for loans, mortgages debentures. If u did great in general maths then u should be ok provided u r a quick and fast learner. It can get very complicated and require some thinking as u get towards the end. Thats my view

STAT170 is easy to keep up but there are weekly quizzes that arnt too hard but the work is easy, jsut at times, alot, u do alot of statistics in general? It just extends upon the z tests and also t tests, paired tests. Lots of content, but easy to deal with

if u dont like computers and jsut want to get it out of the way do ISYS123, by far it is the easiest and simplest. In ISYS123 u work with excel, learn alot new features of ms office, lots of useful stuff. easy marks too


A GPA of 2.5 at Macq means half credit and half pass for your first year units on average

It aint hard to get for those units, I did get a Cr in stat170 and acst101

I think u SIBT students do acst101 but have some different variations to the rest if i remember right, your work doesnt include some areas that others do

to get a GPA of 2.5 all you need is two passes (mark between 50 and 64) and two credits (mark between 65 and 74)

for first semester i would recommend STAT170 (i did general and passed) and MKTG101 (its like marketing in yr 12 business)

im doing bba102 and bba111 atm, but seeing as though i havent got my final mark im not going to say if its easy or not. i will tell you that bba102 is extremely boring

isys123 will be a struggle if you have never touched a computer in your life

ie-don't know what the heck html is, don't know how to use microsoft office and such

but having said that, you will still pass if you put in decent amount of effort

if u dont like computers and jsut want to get it out of the way do ISYS123, by far it is the easiest and simplest. In ISYS123 u work with excel, learn alot new features of ms office, lots of useful stuff. easy marks too

as a whole BBA degree is it alot maths in it ive seen ther subject area and it seems that there is no way more maths than commerce ?

you wont do any MATHxxx subjects, but you will do other subjects are maths based like acst101/201, accg253. these subjects are focused on financial maths, so a crash course isnt a bad idea. also knowledge of the basics of calculus can help in economics subjects.

Techniques and Elements of Finance ACST 101- constant week in week out work; must keep up otherwise you're screwed

Business Organisation Principles BBA 102- deadarse BORING! no other word for it. attending the lectures don't help; just study the words. i only got a P for it cos it was so damn BORING

Organisational Behaviour BBA 111- doing it atm..alright, except the research report due :-(

Business Economics BBA 103- really hard, again i must not be an economics person lol~ graphs were confusing

Fundamentals of Marketing MKTG 101- alright, kinda tedious. easy to get a P

Introductory Statistics STAT 170- ok..a bit consufing sometimes but just keep up to date with the work and do the examples
