I was wondering if major works like a VA BOW will get scaled once marked by NESA. Do they combine your BOW mark with your HSC exam mark and then scale it? thanks
You are correct. A student's external mark for Visual Arts adds up to 100 (similar to the HSC exam of most other subjects), which consists of 50% coming from the body of work submission and 50% coming from the written exam paper. The resulting raw mark is then added to the student's moderated assessment mark, after which the average of both is taken in order to produce a raw HSC mark. This could be illustrated by using an example as follows:
Subsequently, the raw HSC mark will be scaled, resulting in a scaled HSC mark to be used by UAC as part of determining the student's ATAR.
