It's that time of year again kids. ArtExpress will be opening in just a few weeks!

It's an opportunity for the class of 2005 to celebrate the successes of their peers, to see what other VA students did throughout the year, to possibility even see your own work or that of your friends hanging in a professional gallery environment.

For the class of 2006, it's a terrific opportunity to find some inspiration, possibly discover a new medium you hadn't considered before, work up some ideas for the conceptual basis of your own BOW, and basically just get the motivation and inspiration flowing.... and get a good idea of what is involved in the making of a BOW.

For all '06 students in or around the metropolitan area, I'd highly recommend you visit as many of the shows as possible. Some work will of course be at several venues, but there is a lot of overlap with dates, so most works will only be shown at one metropolitan venue.

Dates and Venues are as follows (thanks to Inside ArtEXPRESS.)

Personally, im going to be going to as many as a damn well can :D I want to see the great standards of my fellow 2005ers. I wish i had done art instead of drama. Oh well, i can make up for it by [hopefully] getting into the art teaching course i want to, but im also going to do drama teaching ive decided :D

Anyway, who else is planning to go to most of the exhibits?
At least there will be online exhibits like last year, so you can see the artworks from home, although id much rather see them in person.

Mitsui and Gummybear - I'm planning on going to most, if not all of the metropolitan venues. I might also possibly take in Newcastle and/or Wollongong. :)

And Mitsui, the venues do show different works, yes. Video works can be shown at many venues, and some of the individual artworks do get shown at a few venues. For example, it's possible a students work could be on show at David Jones and COFA, because the dates don't overlap. However nothing at the AGNSW will be at COFA, or Sydney Olympic Park or Hazelhurst - because they run at the same time.

But yes, where the Metropolitan venues are concerned - most of the works will only be shown at one met venue. So all the venues do have different works.

I went to the AG.NSW Art Express and thought the exhibition was rather poor, which gave me hope.

In spite of my prior comment, some of the pieces were great.

One of the videos called 'Asperion' was fantastic.

I saw the exhibition at the NSW Art Gallery. I actually thought it was better than last year. Though there was a couple I thought were average.
