i still dont know where the new building is gona be at? :SLaraB said:Yeh the hecs rise is a bitch etc but it'll benefit the uni heaps - have a look at the plan for thge new lecture hall n stuff - its gonna be aweseome
Maybe for that have popular subjects, like the schools which have business, law etc subjects. I'm sure that they wouldn't notice too much.LaraB said:i know people are gonan whinge if they merge schools and whatever, but honestly, its not gonna make that much of a difference.
Cape said:Maybe for that have popular subjects, like the schools which have business, law etc subjects. I'm sure that they wouldn't notice too much.
But the school of environment and agriculture (its the only one I know very well) has been affected big time cause of the merging. Large schools won't be forced to cut subjects, but the smaller schools have been forced to vut subjects.
I think that I will really depend what school/s you are in.
lol neither do itheone123 said:i still dont know where the new building is gona be at? :S
Workplace behviour is obviously a popular subject. Is it a subject that is taught across different campuses?LaraB said:i dont think from what ive been told bylecturers n stuff its necessarily a matter of size, more of what the subjects/schools bring in...eg our Workplace behaviour lecturer said that the Employment Relations school makes a shit load of money and they could practically fuind the entire hawkesbury campus coz the subjects they run there aren't making money for the uni in terms of research and stuff....
i think at the same time, i undertsand ppl will be shitty if their subjects are affected, but in practice it make ssense coz if the demand for the subject isnt there then its just nhot practical - just like UAI stuff i guess..if from UAC entries there isnt the demand, a course wont open
butu for those of you who think a subject will be cut that you really really really wanna do - ask about doing it via another uni coz uws seem really reasonable wit lettin you do that long as they approve it
i dont see them cutting really popular subjects and stuff in tourism if its full...but at the same time.,.they still might if its not financially viable...Cape said:Workplace behviour is obviously a popular subject. Is it a subject that is taught across different campuses?
I only really know about tourism subjects, so I can't really comment on other subjects. But The tourism course was and still is full beyond capacity.
Most of the subjects were cut because of financial difficulties, and hence the merging of schools. I should stop complaining, but they took all the cool subjects oh well.
I guess every course is different. Cause tourism full is less than 100. I dunno what popular courses number is full. But it probably just depends on the course.LaraB said:i dont see them cutting really popular subjects and stuff in tourism if its full...but at the same time.,.they still might if its not financially viable...
yeah i think w'place behaviours taught at like..most teh campuses n its a compulsorary 1st yr for HRM/IR course n a lot of people pick it as an elective for management or marketing or whatever coz its pretty interetsing
oh yeah... workplace behaviour lectures are bout that too when they full..Cape said:I guess every course is different. Cause tourism full is less than 100. I dunno what popular courses number is full. But it probably just depends on the course.
Business and law etc popular courses, probably won't be affected much. Cause they are popular and students will always be enrolled in them, so therefore they are always guaranteed a financial return. But courses like horticulture and vineculture can't always be full to capacity and don't gain a financial return. I mean some courses you can go to tafe and do, like tourism, I could be at tafe, but i went to uni.LaraB said:oh yeah... workplace behaviour lectures are bout that too when they full..
Managing peopel at work and stuff when they're full, although they never are coz you dont really need to come tyo lectures coz its on WebCT, ful they about 300 i think if i remember right? at leasts that's how many spaces there are..
It's no wonder horticulture and vineculture aint full, holy smokes I didn't even know those words existedCape said:Business and law etc popular courses, probably won't be affected much. Thats cause your too stupid and narrow minded to realise that!HerO said:It's no wonder horticulture and vineculture aint full, holy smokes I didn't even know those words existed
yeah but at the same time, tourism's a low entry course right?Cape said:Business and law etc popular courses, probably won't be affected much. Well the B of tourism is a low cut off course, last year it was 60.00. But there are other tourism courses, like B business (tourism) at campbelltown and B law / tourism (parra or campbelltown, dunno) and theres also hospitality and tourism courses.LaraB said:yeah but at the same time, tourism's a low entry course right?
well id ont c em cutting low or high end courses - high because they wantthe prestige i guess and coz that'd mean cuttincourses like law that have a huge post grad especially entry, low because it'll mean that more n more people wont be able to get to uni
i reckon its more the mid range ones that'll logically be the ones to be affected
Doubt it, it will probably be those course with low demand, cause they wont be financially viableLaraB said:yeah but at the same time, tourism's a low entry course right?
