Exactly what you can do (subjects specifically) will vary depending on the uni you pick. You can check out the website of the uni you plan on going to, or just compare unis to see if they have what you want.

You can pretty much do any subject under the arts course, but you need to pick a major under the arts faculty

Yeah, it takes so long to decide what you want to do, just take you time and talk to people already at University:).

Just remember that in taking an Arts/Law combination you may be restricted in terms of Arts electives and the like.

Sunny's post is the one that you should be taking note of.

At UNSW arts/law the structure is like this:

Year 1
Arts Year 1 Electives
Arts School A - Level 1 courses - 12 UOC
Arts School B - Level 1 courses - 12 UOC
Arts School C - Level 1 courses - 12 UOC

Plus:

LAWS1052 Foundations of Law (6 UOC)
LAWS1061 Torts (6 UOC)

Year 2
Arts Year 2 Electives
Arts School A - Upper Level courses - 12 UOC
Arts School B - Upper Level courses - 12 UOC

Plus:

LAWS1001 Criminal Law 1 (6 UOC)
LAWS1011 Criminal Law 2 (6 UOC)
LAWS1071 Contracts 1 (3 UOC)
LAWS1072 Contracts 2 (6 UOC)
LAWS2140 Public Law (3 UOC)

Year 3
Arts Year 3 Electives
Arts - Upper level courses - 24UOC
(including courses required to complete a major)

Plus:

LAWS1081 Property, Equity & Trusts 1 (6 UOC)
LAWS1082 Property and Equity 2 (6 UOC)
LAWS2160 Administrative Law (6 UOC)
LAWS6210 Law, Lawyers and Society (6 UOC)

Year 4
LAWS2150 Federal Constitutional Law (6 UOC)
LAWS2311 Litigation 1 (6 UOC)
LAWS2321 Litigation 2 (6 UOC)
LAWS4010 Business Associations 1 (6 UOC)
LAWS7420 Advanced Legal Research (2 UOC)

Plus ONE of:

LAWS8320 Legal Theory (6 UOC)
LAWS8820 Law and Social Theory (6 UOC)

Plus Law Electives - 16 UOC

Year 5
Law Electives - 48 UOC

You do less in arts subjects in total than USYD arts/law. I like it this way - you get a bit of a mix, ending up with basically doing 2 arts subjects in later years, and the rest law.

I think everyone has forgotten a crucial part of the initial question - the UTS factor.

At UTS there is no general arts degree. If you would like to do a language, there is BA International Studies, but from my knowledge, it is a rigid course structure, which means you don't have the freedom to choose electives from different faculties as it is designed specifically for the language and overseas travel.

Other than that, Communications degrees (which are much more professionally oriented) with varying majors are offered, and are referred to as BA's in communication. Combined with law, you only have one elective to choose from the social sciences faculty.
