I have my trials in about a 2 months and I am really nervous, just got my semester one report. My question - do I stand any chance at a UAI of 87 ? (I still have assesments for Eng, Geo, Business and I.P.T before the yearlies.)

Mark Average Ranking
Eng Adv: 81 77.2 36/101
G. Maths: 65 72 60/83
B.Studies: 84 65.8 8/66
G-graphy: 85 70 5/28
I.P.T: 86 72.9 3/10

My weakness is obviously my maths, I plan to get a tutor A.S.A.P and maybe attend a study camp over the holidays. If I had my time over I would ...

* Have done 3 unit English
* Had done Legal Studies
* Would've dropped Maths at the end of Year 11 and continued with Modern History.

Would you guys maybe recommend me do Year 12 again? I probably started school a year too young, but I would have to go to a diff school to do it again?

1. there's no point in thinking about what could have been or regretting ur subject choices, because those decisions have already been made and can't be undone.
2. what you have to do now is concentrate on the present and on the subjects u have chosen.

since maths is ur weakness, u could spend a little bit more time on studyng maths each night. u only get out what u put in. so hard work = good results. there are still 3 weeks of the term + the holidays + time before the trials to prepare urself and practice.
a tutor might not be a bad idea, but in all honesty, i have to say that doing the work urself gives the most satisfaction and confidence. just be sure not to rely too heavily on a tutor. if there are any questions u don't know, then try it urself - persevere. then, if ur really stuck, then ask for help. u could try the boredofstudies maths forum. u'll find that they're very helpful :)

At this stage it is certainly still possible to attain a UAI of 87. But you obviously have to work for it.

My advice is definitely don't repeat year 12 unless your end UAI is severely below what you expected at the end of the year.

Taking account that your subjects don't have that great scaling, you cannot neglect them. Keep up with your study routine spacing your subject study time evenly, but add extra time to General Maths such as try getting a tutor and when your finished revise through what you have done. Make sure you have caught up to your class then resume your normal study routine.

I probably started school a year too young, but I would have to go to a diff school to do it again?
No you do not need to, you can still repeat at the same school.

Italian Hotshot, the chance of you getting 87 is not looking good. Not that you shouldn't try. maybe aim for 80 instead.

Most people I know who have redone year 12 have done it at a different school. TAFE seems to be a feasible option although suprisingly, I don't know anyone who has done year12 @ TAFE. (I know a handful of people who repeat year 12 :p)

no uai is out of the question. my philosophy has always been that if u aim for 100 u can get 100. if you only aim for 90, u'll only get 90. aim higher (don't set unrealistic goals though) and try to achieve ur goals. champions have goals that seem ridiculous but which are achievable....and they achieve them.

so, IMO survivor, ur giving the wrong advice - no hard feelings :)
