the mark gets averaged between your assessment and HSC exam mark.

so if you get a low assessment like 65 but a high HSC exam mark like 90 your overall HSC mark will be 77.5

now whether you think that is a high assessment mark is up to you :p

no
here's an example

ur ranked first all year with an assessment mark of 30% in ur school
ie. u failed EVERY assessment...ur trial mark was 37
(this is a hypothetical situation)

BUT in the HSC, u got 90 in the exam
since u were ranked first, the highest exam mark becomes ur assessment mark, so if 90 was the highest exam mark, ur assessment mark is 90, exam mark 90
and therefore
HSC Mark = 90

this is from failing every assessment all yr.

the highest hsc exam mark will become your assessment mark if you are ranked first. so if someone else in your school got a 95 in their HSC exam then that 95 becomes your assessment mark

your HSC exam mark ALWAYS remains the same

if you are 1st ranked,
and your assessment mark is 97

and your exam mark is 83
then your hsc mark will be 90 (mean mark)

your 'moderated assessment mark' can be increased i guess
you're never given your raw marks, (is that right guys?)

im a little unsure,
but if your raw assessment mark was 97
then it could be moderated to 100 (say)

and if you scored 83 in the exam, then it'll remain 83
averaging the two, you get: 91.5 ?

that's how i figure it,
you dont see your raw assessment mark (unless you keep track of it yourself)
then the numbers get played around with,
and then what gets reported is your moderated assessment mark

your exam mark remains the same (since you're 1st anyway)
and then the two are averaged.

i hope that clears it up? (or i could be totally wrong here, feel free to correct me)

you can ask the teacher for the raw assessment marks. definitely before it gets sent in, I am not sure about during the course though, but my teacher is happy to let us know.

just make sure you keep a good gap in the assessment marks between you and those who you predict will do bad, and everything should be fine :p

i would of thought that your assessment marks are moderated towards your external exam mark

like 97 assessment mark would get knocked down quite a bit if you only got 83 in the externals

Hey. What if the most people in the grade do well (hard exams and smart students) and get an average mark of 80. Then during holidays between the trials and hsc (stuvac i think its called), everyone bludges so when the hsc comes they get really bad marks. Wouldn't their assessment mark then drop down badly? if thats true then thats slack because whatever assessment mark is based on the hsc. So if you stuff that up, you stuff everything up?

well
the BOS wont know how you got those good school marks
so unless you prove it to them in the externals, they will smack you down

Ok....can i ask something
say u dont come first, but second, not off by far- do u get any provisions?
ALSO....wat if u get a bad ranking rite say for example.. 28/43 somehting like that....but the difference between u and the TOP girls is only very minute...is that still concidered BAD?
