Assylum seeker action
You know, when I first saw this thread I thought it was going to be an insightful critique of the Australian pornography industry.

Yes of course, and I have no problem with those protests taking place.
However, since it seems the person wanted to start a discussion about detention, I would rather focus on some aspects of detention, and where they believe it needs to be fixed.

I worry that alot of people simply feel that ANY form of mandatory detention is wrong....
My other problem with protesting is that it's easy to protest AGAINST something, but rather hard to protest FOR something.

You don't protest for something, you lobby for something. A protest by it's very nature is an act of defiance.

The Christian lobby has been particularly forceful lately.... it was them that have been pushing the idea that Christian refugees should be released etc.

Also, you have the gay marriage lobby, environmental lobby etc.... lots of lobbies.

Forgive me fo my dodginess in typing up my ideas tonight, I am very tired....
