Hey guys,

Are Asus laptops any good? I am basically looking for a laptop to use for uni etc.
I want something less than $2k with the following features:
Processor: 1.60ghz +
Ram: 512mb +
HDD: . 40gb +
Weight: < 2kg
In built wireless

Perhaps something like the ASUS A8F http://www.vgcomputing.com.au/nsasusA8FJT13SM56HG.html

I was looking at a dell model which they dont seem to make any more and I am not sure about the rep of ASUS...

anyother suggestions welcome

Thanks guys

mel you should check out officeworks those $860 laptops with $100 cashback ($760) they dont get 512mb memory but you can get 1gb of ram for $130 if you go to a computer store and get more RAM.

I have the ASUS M5N laptop (it's about 2 years old). It's a Centrino 1.6, 512MB RAM, 60GB HDD, and has built-in wireless of course bring a centrino.

Best thing is, that its a 12.1" laptop, which makes it 1.3kgs without the battery and about 1.6kgs with the standard battery. I chose the 12" one because its smaller and easier to carry. The one in your link is 14", so if you're fine with that, then I think its good. You can get the 12" one for < $2k now as well.

They are becoming one of the major brands and have a good reputation.
