that is a very important thing you will have to remember.remember that only horizontal asymptotes can be crossed (limit of a function as x approaches + or - infinity) whilst vertical tangents cannot be crossed (x values for which the function is not defined, i.e. division by zero)
For this curve, y=0 is an asymptote beyond the points of inflexion.an asymptote is merely a line that a curve does not touch.
Also, just another tip: finding out whether the curve is odd/even really helps.thanks guys for the myriad of response. I think im getting the idea now.
