Recap: nVidia released their new top-end card, the Geforce 7800GTX 256MB a few months ago.
ATi, being quite late with their responder.. is finally about to release the X1800XT in a week or so. It also comes with 512MB of RAM, which will appeal to buyers looking for longevity.
Now nVidia plans to announce a 512MB version of their own card, where the release date for it should be similar to that of ATi's. Assuming half a brain is present, we know that's gonna fuck up ATi's sales margin.
OH, to add insult to injury.. it's supposed to be cheaper too.
But things aren't looking too bad, as ATi controls the Direct3D line of games and is starting to make hurtful advances into nVidia's OpenGL realm (recall countless games lately with the 'way it's meant to be played' tag getting owned by ATi). For this reason, in the long term I would say nVidia might be in for some deep shit.
