Oh here we go again....more drug smuggling!

http://smh.com.au/news/World/Austra...ars-over-heroin/2005/05/06/1115092633930.html

while I agree the sentence is fairly harsh, while in Cambodia, you obey Cambodian law. While in Australia, you obey Australian laws. And so on. And drugs is something that should be clamped down on.

"But the issue of a juvenile being sentenced to such a whacking term is an issue, frankly, the federal government has got to get involved in.

"You wouldn't, under Australian law, get anything like that.

"And to the extent that it's recently been said that: 'Well, we can't interfere with the laws and procedures of another country, in relation to juvenile offenders', well, we should because there are different principles that apply to juvenile offenders from that which apply to adult offenders."
but should the fact that he is a minor influence matters? what do you think.

Hmm. Drug laws need to be stricter, but... how old is he? 13 years is almost a life sentence... :(

I think people fail to recognise the thrill involved when being jailed for drug trafficking in SE Asia. Imagine, thirteen years when and only sixteen, no doubt with your youth and lengthy sentence you will find a way to escape.

its stupid.
children cant think properly.. its just a fact............................thats why minors should be treated leniently. they shouldnt be held responsible for their actions in the same way an adult is.

unlesss u rape or killl someone............u should be let offf for the first 20 offfences.

and also we shouldnt be .........more stricktly controling drugs..we should more stricktly control voilent crimes....

while our courts are floooded with pettty drug matters it wastes important resources that could be used against people who are dangerous to the commmunity.

most drug activity is pretty harmlesss-- thats just a fact --- most petty drug dealers and drug users ----------there fucking harmlesss-- they should be let offf with warnings rather than waste all the court time and throwing them in jail etc.

Ahhh, now i get ya.
Dude the kids 16 isnt he, even in Australia he would get in at least some shit for that at minimum a warning.
In oz under 10 are exempt from the law.
But we have to remember this happened overseas, so there laws apply

Anyone stupid enough to smuggle drugs to or from cambodia is not worthy of existence. I severely doubt they would contribute much to society at all and they would more than likely become public menaces living lives of dole-bludging and petty crime. Shoot him, i say.
