bloody hell, in australia ppl must be afraid of change eh?

thats why they allow ppl like howard to continue leading a country til theyr dead. Introducing terms , a period of allowed leadership, just like in america is a lot more fair. Allows younger generations with brighter ideas to have a chance to lead this country is different ways.

Old generation ppl have crappy thoughts...especially them guys who only think about themselves, and nobody else.

didn't you watch chaser? the grey vote wants to vote out cargo pants, set speed limits to a maximum of 10km/h and ban all piercings besides single ear earrings for females only. remember we have an aging population.

oh yes but of course, everything remotely mouldy looking is just, so yesterday.

I'll start burning shakespeare and milton and austen shall I?
and you get a start on the lovely cathedrals and all the other old things that have, oddly enough acquired, heritage status....

You make an excellent point, because after all, architecture and literature ARE very similar to prime ministers!

to even compare howard to something useful like a burning cathedral would be insulting the arsonist

People who post such pathetic dribble that have absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand, are complete tools.

Honey, I have no idea who you've been sleeping with to get a reputation that high, but that's all you've got to show for anything because you're obviously lacking the brain capacity to construct a complete and proper retort to, well, anything.

You guys are such cry babies.. You lose 4 times in a row and it sounds like alot of ALP Supporters are already quitting. Hold your heads up high and try to win, I quietly believe that Costello could have even run this election and had a fair chance..

there is enough spamming in this forum without me helping it. how ironic, you spamming to tell me off about spamming.

randomly insulting people is so mature, isn't it.

oh go away you're just jealous.

I used a little device there called sarcasm dear. it's alright, it's a difficult concept and I wouldn't expect minds such as yours to adequately grasp it.

I was making a point, yes, people and architecture are dissimilar but I disagree with the thread maker's opinion that anything old should automatically be classified as irrelevant.

though we are quite a conservative nation, people woul rather continue to mistrust howard than risk trusting latham.

What were you saying about maturity a little while ago?

Thanks but no thanks ;)

I think we all need to just chill out a little. In relation to the point of the thread, I can see where you and the original poster are coming from. Sure, some old things are still worth keeping, as you suggest, but on the other hand, some things aren't. While we're on completely unrelated comparisons, keep a bottle of milk in your fridge for seven years and three days, then see if we should be keeping it :)

While I agree that the leadership is somewhat stale, the differences between Oz and the US in terms of political systems makes imposing terms a bit harder in my opinion, because the (wo)man with the power in the US is directly elected, whereas here we (theoretically) vote for a party, and as such the influence is by a core leadership group not just one person. Basically my point is you have to vote out the government to get a significant change in that party's attitude (to learn from mistakes is different from continuing a sucessful strategy), and i have a feeling we might see that in 3 years time. Don't quote me on that though.

Yeah, the only way to effect change within a party is through pre-selection and branch stacking :p

i keep hearing about branch stacking...something to do with labor in my district creating new branches and adding a large number of fake members to the list of supported. someone got hammered for that...i still don't know what it achieves though? care to explain?
