Who are your favourite Australian authors/poets/writers?

Also feel free to mention journalists/columnists, as I personally classify some of them as producing work worthy of the title 'literature'. Just post about Australians who write!

My list of Aust. Lit I've enjoyed:
-My Brilliant Career - Miles Franklin
-A Fortunate Life - A.B. Facey
-Conditions of Faith - Alex Miller
-All Elizabeth Honey (she's up there with Roald Dahl as my favourite children's authors)
-All Tim Winton
-Virtually all John Marsden, including his non-fiction
-Martin Flanagan (investigative journalist)
-Danny Katz (modern humourist)
-Michael Leunig (" " ")

Lethal stuff.
What sort of stuff do they write? I'm always interested if people really enjoyed Australian literature, instead of just saying 'Oh, it effectively portrays Australian life in the 1890s. I couldn't finish it though.'

They're both poets.
Bruce Dawe writes many a great satire on life. I know this is a HSC text, but 'Enter without so much as knocking...' is just so good.
Dorothy Porter... well well well... I can't say I've read a lot by her, but her book 'The Monkey's Mask' is a book of poetry. It's one of the most awesome books i own. It's a murder mystery complete with violence, sex and more poetry. Best poetic narrative fiction second only to Pushkin.

I like Ruth Park and Winton. Not too big on Australian books though, "My Brilliant Career" was good though.

I love Ethel Turners' Seven Little Australians Trilogy, she makes a very lovable cast and shows us how they change and grow. Good lighthearted read all round.
