Regan, Gonerill and Cordelia from King Lear. Look past the stereotypes most ppl put them in, and they're actually pretty cool.
And I was going to suggest Allanna from Song of the Lioness Series, but 2 ppl have already suggested it..great minds think alike.
Can't remember her name, but the main character from "The Raging Quiet" is pretty cool.

Dominique Francon from the Fountainhead and Dagny Taggart from Atlas Shrugged.

However, as Ayn Rand uses quite interesting gender politics ... well, they're brilliant characters, very nicely characterised.

Tatiana from The Bronze Horseman. Or Tully from Tully.

Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird.

And for all her oblivious nature, Buttercup from the Princess Bride.

Cheers!

'Barbs' from To Sir With Love, not the film but to novel
she is in love with the teacher but still very gutsy and has real issues and you bond with her throughout the book
