any current studesnts doin eco as a major in b business? how r u guys findin it
and how does b business; major-eco differ from pure B eco degrees offered at other unis?

why does everyone want to get into stockbroking ?

as for your question. a straight economics degree elsewhere would cover a much wider range of conomic issues then a simple major. but in saying that, i believe a commerce/business degree majoring in finance/economics could be the way to stockbroking. but i could very well be wrong

If you are doing the B Business straight degree at UTS, you are required to choose either 2 Majors/1 Major and 2 Sub-Majors/1 Major and Electives. I personally believe that a Major in both Finance and Economics would give you the required backing to persue a career in Stockbroking.

There would be people at Open Days to answer your queries on this and the business majors. There are also Business Major presentations for UTS students in the mid-year which all the Schools of Business line up with a couple of lecturers to answer specific questions.

A place to start comparing the Finance and Economics majors with the ones offered in other universities would be the Handbook.
Have a look:
Economics Major: http://www.handbook.uts.edu.au/directory/maj09209.html
Finance Major: http://www.handbook.uts.edu.au/directory/maj08440.html

Alternatively, have a look at the other majors offered at UTS:
http://www.handbook.uts.edu.au/directory/cbk90169.html

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Cheers.
