In the basic sense, yes, it's the same because you do both Law and Actuarial studies in both combined degrees

There are a few important differences though

actl law at macquarie is over 6 years and allows you to get part 1 exemptions along with your degree.

at UNSW, it is like all the other combined law programs and is done over 5 years and as you will be doing all law subjects in your 4th and 5th year, you will only be able to do 7 out of the 9 exemption subjects. You'll need to sit external exam for the 2 subjects u missed. ...unless of course you are crazy and overload your program somehow...

My sister who did actuarial studies at Macquarie Uni said that it just tends to be fobs who do actuarial studies - she was one of the only non-asians doing it

There's a mix of personalities in the department.

Actl+law at UNSW .....
-> you would need to read up alot of maths on your own...
-> but then it's not just maths... you would need to learn VBA by yourself.

What is it about actuarial science? why did it become so popular?

they aren't freaks, they are simply very intelligent people - you cant simply be hardworking on its own.

eg, maniacguy overloads, and teaches 2nd yr actl tutes
