The campus at Penrith also has the studios for the Sydney community tv station TVS. I understand that you can gain work experience at the studios through subjects like "Learning Through Community Service" and have it credited toward your degree.

That's all I know about the comm arts, sorry. But seeing there's TV studios on campus, i'd assume they'd be pretty good facilities.

Its not the UWS campus itself I'm talking about...its just that the Riff is too far from everything...trust, I went to school here for 13 years.

Yeah, there is a good production studio at the Kingswood Campus. Unfortunately, that is pretty much off limits until 4th year. For the majority of the degree, you'll be using slightly better than consumer level equipment. Sure, you can make some good stuff with this, but you certainly wont be learning any technical skills that will impress future employers.

The degree itself is too broad, and only one unit is dedicated to each area of production/post production, so you wont develop any in depth skills in any particular area. Jack of all trades, master of none. Not to mention the first year of the degree is a complete waste of time.

Don't waste your time doing this kind of stuff at uni. Check out the courses offered at Metroscreen. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Lol other people on this website will be upset if they get below like 95 but i will be so happy if i get 67.6 especially since i have my LAST exam tomorrow which is economics. Im not good at economics its gonna drag me down. oh well should probably get of bos and start studying. As of tomorrow 12:30 i will be free!

Seriously, don't do this course. I should know, I done it.

Do this instead: Full Time Courses

1/6 of the time, 1/6 of the cost, you get to work in a HD multicam studio, you'll have something decent to put in your show reel, and you will get to network with a lot of people in the industry.

UTS and CSU are better universities to go to for such fields as communication - journalism, media production etc. Better reputations, more facilities available and the lecturers are from reputable media positions.

Hate to burst all your bubbles but its reality.

No actually, the Editorial Manager at News Limited in Sydney told myself and a cohort of students in a work experience journalism program last year that the two best places were UTS and CSU for journalism.

So I am sorry, but I am going to trust someone who has been in the media industry for over 30 years than some asinine person who thinks they know everything.

Journalists there across all departments also advised us to go to those places as they have the highest job rates for graduating students... and also not just high job rates, but jobs in high positions.

Here's a list of the uts journalism graduates to back up my point: (which I feel is very pathetic that I have to....)

That's the best you can say... 'I need a life'?
I'm pretty sure I have a life... don't know about you though.

Anyways, I've had a think about why you would make such a dumb statement, and I've come to the conclusion that its just because I can/could justify my argument, considering you had none!
