whatever u know about any of them, please let me know. i do not know how to become these professions.. i.e. what undergraduate degree (simply a bachelor of science to start off with?!??), what follows from that etc.

To become a pathologist, a Medical Science degree is recommended but a General Science degree is sufficient. For Physiotherapy, you have to do an Applied Science degree. Podiatry is really a medical field and requires you to have a MBBS, but don't quote me on that because I'm not really sure.

To become a pathologist, you need a Medical Degree to make you a Medical doctor (MBBS, BMed, MB ChB etc)
then you need a fellowship with the Royal College of Pathologist Australia

http://www.rcpa.edu.au/public/default.cfm

takes about 14 yrs..

- a radiologist = Medical degree + FRANZCR also about 14yrs
http://www.ranzcr.edu.au/index.cfm
- a physiotherapist= B.Physiotherapy
- a podiatrist = B. HealthSc (Podiatry)
- a sonographer = B. AppSc (Medical Radiation)

radiologist and radiographers are different..
radiographers- make the imaging (xrays, MRI, CT etc)
radiologist - make the diagnosis..

i love radiology and pathology..=)

Dudes im doing podiatry and you dont need to be a doctor first. You need to be a doctor first in the united states though - so aussie podiatrists can never work over there. Charles sturt is the only place that does it in NSW, so its either down there or move interstate. I am at Queensland University of Technology doing Podiatry and human movement. Ill warn you now though, it is not easy and there is a high drop out rate

Ok people im studying medical science so i better give you a heads up.

If you choose that pathology stream of medical science or a related biomed cource you are being trained to be a scientific officer.

that is you work blood, tissues, culture various stuff, you basicly do everything a pathologist does only they are far more specialised and basicly know more.

As stated before a pathologist is a medical Doctor that has specialised..great money i must say.

either way in a general health science degree it is expected these days that you continue your education if you ever want to pursue money, specialised areas of research or work, be eligible for work that has high emplyment rate etc

well thats what a lecturer drilled into our heads

unless you are happy being a science tech officer or whatever- i think its up you in the end, where you want to go and study...i mean there are so many factors these days :(

That doesn't prove anything.

These figures are derived from a govt. web site, but I can't source them since I copied them to a *.txt file and saved them on my HD. Google might help.
Averages:
GP Income: $212,833; $106,066 deductions.
Pathologist: $228,890; $125,939 deductions.

Therefore, generic GP earns more than generic pathologist.

You can do podiatry at CSU Albury Wodonga. It's a specific degree in podiatry... apparently there is a bit of a shortage of podiatrists in many areas so it is a good profession to get in to.
