From what the coursebooks and that say about that degree, unless you want to become a science teacher at a high school, don't touch it, but if you do, then its probably your best choice. The degree does allow you to either use the education of the science part if you want to enter industy but I wouldn't say its the strongest degree to walk out with.

I've got a friend who I went to school with who's doing the degree and says that it's fustrating as a degree because you don't specialise in anything but rather just get a general grasp about all things science, but it also means things don't get too technical which is a bonus for the workload and the amount you need to study.

I am thinking of going into teaching. I am a bit worried about it being non specific though, I am not sure whether or not to take now. I really would like to specialise in Chemistry.

You can choose science electives in the degree so I'd probably see if you could choose all chemistry electives, that might be a solution, and if you're interested in chemistry, you might want to do a more chemistry focused degree and then throw a dip.ed on the end so you can teach but also allow you the flexibility to join industry.

yeah I know some people who weren't sure what to do cause they wanted to teach languages specifically instead of doing the education electives the uni. prescribes
Like Raiks said best thing to do is a more 'chemistry' degree and add a year for your dip ed, that is probably the best thing to do and will more specifically suit your interests
Good luck...
