Hey guys.
I need some help in balancing Chemical Equations.

e.g.
C2H6 + O2 -> H2O + CO2
aC2H6 + bO2 -> cH2O + dCO2

b=7/2 a
c=3a
d=2a

aC2H6 + 7/2aO2 -> 3aH2O + 2aCO2
Answer: 2C2H6 + 7O2 -> 6H2O + 4CO2

The answer is correct, however is there another way to solve this? Which method would be most reliable?

Thank you in advance. :)

You should just do it intuitively, deal with the carbons followed by the hydrogens, always do oxygen last.

Personally, I don't use the a, b c d method I just do trial and error, I find it works best.
