theres 3 computers connected to our router thats on 1500/256 broadband internet.

Is there a way to split the bandwidth so we each get 50kb? cause if one persons downloading everyone elses connections are slowed dramatically.

No. Some Routers have this inbuilt. You could try Netlimiter, and see if that makes a difference. Not sure if it's only used for limiting upload, though.

Yup netlimiter should do it.

It works for both downloads and uploads :)

is there a way to limit the speeds without the other people knowing? the router doesnt have QoS either.

You should get a QoS router anyway, then oyou can just prioritise the different upload streams so that you can still browse/game fine while other people are downloading at close to full speed.

i believe it is too late cause i already got a netgear dg834, and i dont think that has QoS.

Hiding it on my friends computer will be easier said than done.
