can someone show me how to do this question...im confused by the density bit...

A 250 mL sample of Polk shaving cream wasw analysed and found to contain the following active ingredients:

  • Liquid A - 2.4g
  • Liquid B - 0.5g
the following information on these two active ingredients is also provided:

Density Maximum amount considered to be safe (%v/v)

Liquid A 1.5g/mL 0.65%

Liquid B 0.75g/mL 0.15%

By using the information above, would u consider the product to be safe or not? provide justification and show all working.

hey my ans:

first finding the volume of the liquids:

Liquid A = 2.4/1.5
Liquid A = 1.6 mL

Liquid B = 0.5/0.75
Liquid B = 0.67mL (use 2/3 mL for accuracy)

Now working out the concentration of the liquids:

Liquid A = (1.6/250) x 100
Liquid A = 0.64%

Liquid B = [(2/3)/250] x 100
Liquid B = 0.27%

This is not a safe product as the concentration of Liquid B exceeds safe limits:
0.27% > 0.15%

hope this helped h3ll hound =D
