it gives you greater chances at promotion, and opens you up to a wider variety of specialisations - and thats the thing, you HAVE to be experienced to apply for that degree

Yeah, where my dad works, it is a requirement if you are applying for a State Manager, e.t.c.:).

you basically cant get into an MBA as a graduate - its designed for experienced professionals wanting to upgrade their mgmt skills..you'll find most of the MBA programs require something like at least 5 years experience in the relevant field
I was also choosing between Business and COmmerce and have them both down. Commerce at UNSW or Business at UTS both sounds good.

My question though is to do with graduating with Honours. Is this really useful? Would it allow you to do the MBA sooner, and do companies respect it? Is it basically a waste of a year if you intend to do an MBA later anyway?

For Commerce/Business, Honours is only really useful if you want to become an academic, or are interested in research. The only honours component I see that practical to the workforce is an honours in Economics (and is a requirement if you wanna work for the RBA). MBA would definately be a better choice later on if you want to work in the corporate sector

Yeah, I just can't see the relevance of an honours in say something like Accounting or Business Law in the workforce.

Apparently they are both on equal levels of prestige
(according to the Good Postgrad Guide, I think MGSM's prospects including salary are better than AGSM)

as for MGSM, my dad finished that at Maquarie Uni this year, the fees are vertical though.

theres no difference - if you wanna do Commerce, choose either uni based on how you like the feel of the campus, and how close it is to you
