Usually students use historians from those 4 main categories. But there are more types of historians not listed. I.e. Where do the annals school come in? Bede, as *10# has stated, is a christian historian. He comes before the emperical period (Ranke) and after the Classical period (Herodotus).
Bede can be called a 'medievalist' (his dates c.672-735) He believed history accurately explained Gods plan. His history was not objective because he explained the past with an overarching theory in order to promote the Christian faith.
the four evejac mentioned are the main types students do study.
8 types of historians? phew... I couldn't be bothered. I focused on the ones that appeal to me and I understand the most.
