If anyone was a leader here... how were you able to balance conduct, study and sport evenly and still manage a good hsc mark?

sigh, seems so hard having to do speeches and hwk and training and canteen duty. :(

i was prefect and it was fine. cos there were 11 of us, we balanced everythin out so we only had to do like, one speech each a semester. (one person every 2 weeks) we also were supposed to take one of the middle school classes roll calls once a week (each had a diff class) but that deteriorated as time went by.

as far as everythin went, the boy vice captain won with his UAI by the most, whilst still being an avid sporting person, speakin in assemblies, and studyin SO SO much.

as far as i know i got the 2nd highest out of the prefects and captains, and, apart from right near the end of the yr wen the captains did HEAPS of speeches, i did alot of them, i did alot of singing for the school assemblies, organising exo day, and acting sporatically.

basically, the teachers actually respected when we sed, hey can we please get a yr 11 kid to organise that i need to study a bit more

There’s a saying I heard my father's secretary say to him:

"Wenn Sie eine Aufgabe erledigt wünschen, geben Sie einem beschäftigten Mann es" (Or something like that. My written German isn't what it used to be.)

Simply put, if you want something done, give it to a busy man.

now i dont like too brag but yeah i was sports captain at our school . A leader , a skipper , a good and inspiration to others. I didnt realy balanced it cuase i am naturally smart. i didnt really study n focused on my training n being sports captain. i believe this helped me to score a uai of 96 (that wasnt all i scored , if u no wat i mean) . my advice is just study in the holidays b4 the hsc.

everything else is easy as a monkeys leg

Well, i got Vice and running around school doing canteen and speaking to teachers really lengthens the day on top of the already boring start to year 12.

It's because of this that i've become so lazy. I should be finishing a project atm but cant be bothered.

i need motivation.

i'm a prefect, but our duties are very school based. we don't do anything else besides controlling juniors and helping them. its because we have 24 in the prefect body. our school has i think just over 1000 students. so blah.

We did our leadership training in the first four days prior to school starting this year. So far it just involves giving up lots of lunch times. That's fine - I never used them for anything important.

My duties are pretty varied - Environmental, Charity and Academic Committee. I'm not terribly involved in prefect duties, but I do have token prefect powers, you might say (Everybody on the Academic Committee does - hell, half of them are prefects anyway).

Homework I do at home. Leadership duties here don't occupy any time out of school usually - and if they do, it is not on a consistent basis.

I think one thing is controlling the idea that you have so much to do and are so busy. If you are thinking this, you need to examine how you're living your life and what is not necessary, as well as calm yourself down.

I was a senior prefect. It was ok.... we got to have half days off when there was an open day (and we had one a term) and we showed people around the school.... but mostly, we just stole the cake when people were not looking. We had a choice of doing either gate duty "wHERE'S YOUR BLAZER MISSY???", or canteen duty, either recess or lunch. I specialised in gate duty....which was great fun.... I was the scary prefect :D

but seriously.....it didn't impact on my marks. As well as this (as i have mentioned several times in various forums) I also had to do 20 hrs a week of ballet....and yet I still got the highest uai in the school. Most prefects/ vice captains (wer had 3 vice captains) got at least 1 subject in the 90's.
