Why? - Alopecia
Black Mountain - In The Future
Laura Marling - Alas, I Cannot Swim

Those have all been my favourites so far this year

I've been listening to Will Oldham's new album, under his alias as Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Lie Down In The Light, a lot too.

i think that was an 06 release even. but certaily very good, if not as good as mclusky themselves.

badu, erykah - new amerykah part one: 4th world war
crystal castles - crystal castles (too bad they suck live)
cut copy - in ghost colours (tim goldsworthy!)
ladytron - velocifero (not as good as witching hour, but witching hour was amazing, so it's understandable)
no age - nouns
pacific uv - longplay 2
sian alice group - 59.59
spiritualized - songs in a & e (surprisingly good after the terrible amazing grace)

If I had to pick only five:

Ratatat - LP3
A Silver Mt. Zion - 13 Blues For Thirteen Moons
Nine Inch Nails - The Slip
Sigur Rós - [you know the one]
M83 - Saturdays = Youth

Edit; make that six:
Mogwai - The Hawk Is Howling

I still stand with 'Other Voices, Other Rooms' for the best 2008 release but the new album by 'The Academy Is...' (Fast Times At Barrington High) has been one to grow on me since the release. For me, it's the perfect soundtrack for summer, as well as being very symbolic of ones last year at school and the emotions everyone goes through.

^I agree =]
Fast Times at Barrington High mightn't be anything revolutionary but it's the perfect summer soundtrack and for people like me coming to their last few weeks of school, it kinda embodies all the emotions and memories which I'm going through and thinking about at the moment.
