More info as requested

Hi guys,

The company you'll be working for is called Easy Choice Marketing. We're a door to door sales company distributing products for our suppliers.

The suppliers we're distributing for sells financed electronics, anything from plasma and lcd screen tvs, home entertainment systems, digital cameras/recorders, laptops and desktops pcs, mp3 players, dvd players, fridges, dishwashers, airconditioners - basically everything that harvey norman and co sells - any white goods. We also sell brown goods, ie. furnitures.

We sell on finance, similar to a mobile phone contract. The contracts are fortnightly, so they pay a sum direct debited fortnightly, we deliver in 7 days and they keep the product at the end of the contract.

The deal we're offering is the best available in Sydney atm because our supplier and financier are from NZ, which means our interest rate is more than half as low as our competitors.

The job is to go out in teams to surburbs and sell door to door, mostly to the poorer areas of Sydney.

For each sale you make, you make between $100 to $300 depending on the product.

The job is available for full time, part time as well as casual, so we're very flexible.

Our average sales rep atm makes between $500 a week. Our best sales reps make over $2000 a week. There are chances for promotion to team leader, who average $3000 to $5000 a week. So the money is very good.

There are also a lot of bonuses and fringe benefits, both cash and in kind, eg. once you get promoted to team leader, the company provides you with a mobile phone and we pay for your phone bills, we give out cash bonuses based on performance and we take care of all your expenses during working hours.

18+ required. But if you're only a few weeks to your 18th birthday, that's ok.

If you are interested, please send an application to rukawasan@hotmail.com. There will be a short interview in the near future as a allocated location.

Previous sales experienced preferred, but NOT required as we provide you with full training.

Actually no. All expenses during work hours are company paid, eg. train tickets, petrol, etc. There are no targe sales amount each week. You can work as much or as little as you want. But the more and harder you work the more you earn.

Sounds good. But too good.
Generally a good rule to apply to anything.

They pay will be shit unless your something akin to Superman, who could sell a bag of dog shit for $200 a piece.

Door-to-door sales = bad, unless you're very experienced.

High-end electronics sales = bad, unless you're experienced.

== Shit job.

Yeah, you just have to be able to cold-sell a $6000 plasma TV... It can't be done. Woops, I just noticed the 'we sell via finance'. That makes selling about x10 times harder, especially when you take into account the laws that require salesmen to disclose the huge financing fees. That is, unless you would to be imprisioned and generally not want to sleep at night, knowing that you ripped off a pensioner and left a single widow with interest rates of upwards of 35%.

'Good morning, ma'am. Can I convince you to buy something that you would only go out to buy? Yes? You want fifteen?! Excellent stuff! *cough* I legally have to tell you that there's a huge interest fee*cough* What...? I asked if you had the time...'

Why the fuck would they fire you? They DON'T PAY YOU UNLESS YOU SELL.

They don't care if you're walking around, not making them any money, they're not losing a cent.

Personally, I'd prefer to cold-sell for my own business, that way, at least I'd make money when I sold something. It's not as if it's any easier working for them. Sure, they entice you by paying transport fees, but if you sold anything (we're working under the pretense that you would actually sell), you could pay for a year's transport.

Actually, the product and finance we offer are at reasonable rates for reasonable prices, eg. a 102cm samsung plasma screen tv for $60/fortnight finance, a 512 mb ram acer laptop for $60/fortnight, a LG airconditioner for $14/fortnight, etc, all for 36 months contract. Plus the first 2 payments are free, for a laptop we throw in a free carrying case, a free web cam and a free 3 in 1 copier/scanner/printer, for a tv we throw in 3 free dvds, plus many other rewards, etc. Interest rate actually is at 21% which is lower than you'll find elsewhere. All products come with free delivery and installation.

Our sales reps atm average 3-5 sales a week, working 3 days, which average $450-$700. Our best sales reps average 10-15 sales a week, which you can calculate for yourself. Training is provided on the job.

This is why I do not like to advertise on forums, inevitably you get flamed by cynics who wants to diss anything and everything.[/

Hmm, I'm glad you're being so specific. I think the most specific thing you mentioned was the brand-name of LG.

Interest rate actually is at 21% which is lower than you'll find elsewhere. All products come with free delivery and installation.
Actually, although that's probably more reasonable than about half the places, RetraVision offer as low as 17% on the above items you mentioned (on a 36 month contract)- just to mention a retailer of which's interest I know.

Our sales reps atm average 3-5 sales a week, working 3 days, which average $450-$700. Our best sales reps average 10-15 sales a week, which you can calculate for yourself. Training is provided on the job.
I highly doubt that any salesman averages 3-5 sales per week, cold selling, for any substantial product.

Taining may be provided, but you can't teach sales technique, and your training is unpaid. I would advise people going to somewhere where training is paid for, you get a steady wage, and yet you still get bonuses. I could name more than 20 places between Chatswood and Hornsby that I could recommend.

This is why I do not like to advertise on forums, inevitably you get flamed by cynics who wants to diss anything and everything.
Yeah, it sucks when you're trying to sell a shit product (you selling your company), and you run into someone that knows what they're talking about.

I'm not a cynic, I've had a lot of experience in sales (coincidentally the stuff that you sell, although I've not done much with whitegoods other than occasionally manage a shop as to fill in for a company friend- I'm more towards browngoods, myself).

Sorry to flame you, but you should be upfront when recruiting. It's very unethical to take advantage of school leavers (which you're clearly doing).

Edit: I would be frank with prospective employees. I would put up a website with the specific figures.

Yes, that may seem daunting and you may think that people will not want to work for you, but if you advertise for competitive people that like rewarding challenges, you will get the right people.

If you advertise like it's a great and easy job with no challenges, you'll get people made to be a cashier. I'm not dissing cashiers, but salesmen have to be aggressive, hard people. You should aim to attract these people, and in my experience, honesty about the nature of salesmanship is the way to do it; not sliming them in by things like 'we'll pay your petrol... some of our salesmen make 750$ a week... this could be you', etc.

Dude, whoever you are please do not pretend to know what you do not know.

Retravision yes, offers lower than 21%. But it requires good credit ratings which poorer people do not have. Hence we're going out to poorer areas and offer financing to those people who do not have the necessary credit history and income to apply for the RetraVision and Harvey Norman and Bing Lee financing. If we are really what you say we are, we'd be out of business a long time ago. There's a reason why we're still in business and expanding. It's because we know what we sell and we know it's good. You, on the other hand, stumbles across a thread which is offering a decent job for good pay for students who are finishing their hsc and looking for work in the holidays and you pretend you know what you are talking about and diss everything left and right.

And dude, we outsource our training to professional human capital development companies who specialise in training sales reps as well as teach on the job through our team leaders who're experienced at what they do. This is because we care about our people.

Please, if you do not have anything nice to say, do not post, especially if you don't know what you're talking about.

Excuse me...? I'm not pretending to know anything more than I don't know. If you'd like to have a pissing contest with credentials, I'll let you initiate it. I find 'I'm better than you because of x, y, z', borish and insulting. However, if you'd like to compare cock-sizes in terms of experience, I'll be very happy to oblige. Perhaps you'd like to call my references?

I'm sure poor people are interested in LCD TVs. Secondly, people with bad debt can buy from RetraVision, I know because I've had to check up on it.

See, this is why I had to flame you. You're lying to people. Tell kids the truth about what you want them to do. I'm not dissing everything left and right, I'm dissing you because you're encouraging students to get into something they don't know about.

And dude, we outsource our training to professional human capital development companies who specialise in training sales reps as well as teach on the job through our team leaders who're experienced at what they do.
Would you like to be specific? I would be very interested in your professional trainers. With the companies I've worked for, we've used international trainers that are internally from the company.

This is because we care about our people.
Ah, I forgot. You pay for fuel. Pity about the unpaid training, lack of wage, and lack of transparency.

Please, if you do not have anything nice to say, do not post, especially if you don't know what you're talking about.
Again, I'll add that I do know what I'm talking about. If I'm just trolling, like you're insinuating, you should be able to refute my argument, so you shouldn't worry.

Frankly, you're not doing a very good job of selling, and your resorting to saying that 'you don't know what you're talking about' shows how incompetent you are.

Sigh, like you said yourself, I don't want to get into a 'pissing contest' with you. If you would like to discuss this at length, I'm happy to discuss this with you through PM. And trust me, I'm sure I have more experience in sales than you do. Both in the front end and back end.

The commission paid by Easy Choice Marketing is almost twice as much as other sales companies do.

I am advertising this job on this forum because there are a lot of HSC leavers who are looking for a job after HSC. It is a well paid job which offers practical experience in the sales industry.

Like I said, if you would like to continue, I'm happy to discuss this through PM.

There's just two things I dont like about this:
1. The possibility of being abducted by some weirdo.
2. I hate door to door sales people... imposing this pain on others would be hell. Like sitting in a call center thing where you call people and go "OMG! You're just like 50 million other people who have WONWONWON! You can have a holiday to the hotel down your street if you "donate" $5000 into a Cayman Island Account! YEAAAH!"

*sigh* .. Some business' are shit heads ..
the one i was talking about is in partnership wth Optus, and everyone knows Optus treats most of their workers like shit.

yes they dont pay u unless u sell .. but some business have qutoas they have to keep with every individual emplyee, and if u dont meet up to that demand something frastic could happen (if uve been warned)

If u havent realised .. every business cares if ur not profatable, why would they keep u if ur useless ??

u obviously dont know how the business world works .. its a dog eat dog world nubber, business has to stay on top and they'll do anything to keep the efficieny of thier employees above 'average'

Only problem is, this company does not have an ABN or ACN. So i'd steer clear of it. Plus how are you going to cold sell something to some person in the 'poorer areas of sydney' as quoted by rukawasan.

in that reigon you're more likely to get an earful of abuse rather than any kinda sale.
the lack of ABN and ACN makes it superdodge. why not just work in myer or sportsgirl or FCUK, work 5 or 6 hours a day and get $11 per hour instead of slogging it out with the prospect of going home with nothing and having to run around all day for some dodgy op.
