UNSW then Macq and Sydney would be similar (perhaps macq slightly in front these days owing to it's reputation of having an fucking hard course). I don't know where ANU stands but it'd probably be similar to unsw.

i did have commerce at sydney as a preference, but it was my last one. from what i've heard from mates who are there it was just as well that i avoided it

economics is a 2nd rate commerce degree
because there aint no jobs for it you see
most ppls do eco if they cant get into a commerce degree
let me tell you something that will amaze you and me
macquarie uni is a no no as the exams r hard as can be
it doesnt really matter which universitee
economics always comes behind a business degree
i wouldnt even do economics if it was offered for free
now economics starts with an e
whilst commerce starts with a c
and business starts with a b
now e aint c and c aint b
b and c comes before an e
hence you know economics will always be a 3rd choice degree

BEc degrees are decent, but a BCom grants you the ability to be able to major in economics and another discipline, whereas thats not the case with a BEc, that might not be totally correct so if anyone knows better then correct me.

True about the lack of economic specific jobs, but it also gives you a generalist background which complements finance, sociology, law, marketing, management and many other disciplines, so why it might be harder finding a specific industry job, you can easily find yourself working in any number of different fields.

Raiks, the UNSW BEc, you can major in Eco and any other discipline other than Actuarial Studies.

Economics degrees have the highest/quickest salary increase rate out of any degree, although jobs are harder to come by than say, accounting. If you do get the good jobs, they are damn good.
(source: good uni guide)

Not trying to bias here, but UNSW does a rep as the leading faculty of commerce+economics in the Asia-Pacific region, so if you can get in, go for that (or go for melby's ANU idea, that actually sounds better)

I always thought USYD had the edge when it came to B Ec. Some posts have probably changed that thought. :p

depends what kinda economics degree you're after
a quantitative economics degree would be better at UNSW, whereas an economics/social science type of economics degree will be far better at USyd

Question.

In what way & why would a BComm/B Ec. at such and such a uni make it the best ?

In my opinion,
is it the best because of the lecturer teaching(style/theory) ?
is it the best because it has highest employment ?
is it the best because it produces high salaries for post grad's ?

Prolly a few more relevant but i dunnno :p
