What are your thoughts. The program can cost anything, but it must be easy to use. I'm thinking of making and editing videos (imported from my video camera).

cheers

Not really, with anything liek that though, you'd want some time to get used to the interface, but if you find some tutorials or borrow one of those beginner books, you'l be fine. The interface is somewhere between Photoshop and Audition (their music recording program).

oh i likes photosh0p.

im not really planning on spending much time on learning the program - i'm more looking for something that is very common sense and simple to use. For instance, if I want music to cue at a particular scene, I'd want to simply click a big music note symbol, and a guy to appear out of nowhere to complete the process.

thanks for the advice though. i think i'll 'buy'

Well for the most part, simple mixing like that you basically import the movie file and the music file, drag the items onto the timeline, and tada! One other tool you might like is the razor tool which is located to the right of the timeline, basically it lets you cut stuff up :)

http://ppro.wikia.com/wiki/Tutorials_and_articles#Premiere_Pro_2.0 is also useful

I wouldn't grab cs3, 1.5 or 2.0 do just fine :)

I'm assuming you're using firewire to upload? I've usually found older cameras a bit of a hit and miss affair with those, can't do ANYTHING when trying to capture, i've found anyway.

yep i am. however, my computer isnt even recognising any devices being attached. i might try get a PCMCI(?) card to test out if a 4pin/6pin firewire cable that came with the camera would work (atm I'm using a 4pin/4pin cable)
