um we have 2 do this assessment where u gotta do a timeline about the development of the microscope, the cell theory, etc. i was wondering if someone could tell me how best to scale the timeline? it ranges from about 1400 to now, and some periods have way way way more events to include than others, but the teacher insists u have to scale it evenly. since im pretty crap at maths im askin anyone out there who knows how to do this 4 help. thanx :p

I've done an assignment like this, but I wonder whether your teacher thought about what scaling the timeline evenly would require, in terms of presentation. Obviously your scale has to be in proportion, I mean 2 years can't look like 20 years. But you're right; there are periods where the development is at a much faster rate. I suggest you do your timeline over several pages which you then staple together in a booklet to hand in, or alternatively use an A3 piece of paper, and fold it in half to hand in. There is no way this timeline would fit onto an A4 piece of paper, unless your teacher wants to use a microscope to read your writing! In terms of scaling, something simple like 3cm= 1 year would work if you use multiple A4 pieces of paper like I said. I can't think of any other way around it if even scaling is what your teacher wants.
