For the TWO biotechs question I did:

GM crops (example: Bt corn and Bt cotton)
Societal: increased yield of food/cotton increases supply of products such as food (Bt corn) and cotton-derived products, decreasing prices for society and giving more options
Ethical implications: Talked about profiteering, biopiracy and religious issues around the use and consumption of GM crops

Biofuels (example: sustainable aviation fuels)
Societal: Talked about decreasing pollution from normal crude oil kerosene used in aircraft, improving quality of life
Ethical implications: Talked about profiteering, biopiracy around the use and consumption of biofuels

How many marks out of 7 did I lose?

might have lost a mark for repetition of similar points for ethical implications, idk if 'GM' crops is too vague for the question or not since GM is a really broad term (obviously it's a biotech but they might have beef with it if u didn't state it was transgenic or something, not sure tho), but its rlly subjective and dependent on marking obviously

I did state recombinant DNA for Bt corn/cotton and explained the process in regards to GM crops. So 4/7?

4-5/7 prolly, personally I'd say 4 is a bit of a low ball considering u have around 2 impacts for each + ethics as well as named examples

Fuck I'm so screwed if 88 is actually the state median.

they will just make the marking criteria stricter and stricter on short answer questions until they get a good distribution very low chance state median is 88 because the distribution wouldn't be proper for top end.

i do think there will be a couple questions. at least a couple 2-3 markers though not 100% sure. maybe 20 marks worth of multis too im guessing. i think overall there will be a grand total of 100 marks available, although this is just my guess

Fuck I feel like 85 raw is going to be really bad when it comes to alignment….could 85 raw even go backwards to 84 in scaling

nah bro, i’m sure it’s explained in those videos which were posted, but it’s definitely C because of how sex-linked traits work. for the 4th pedigree, neither parent is showing the trait but it is passed down to 3/4 sons and no daughters. This means it is sex-linked recessive, as the daughters are able to block the sex-linked recessive with the other X chromosome, whilst males cannot as they are XY.

This pretty much can’t happen, they will just continue to revise their marking criteria until they get around a median they like. The break-even will still be like 75

So scaling to be similar to 2023?

Yeah i’d say probably, but marking will be harsher, so a response for a 5 marker which may have gotten you full marks last year will only get you 4/5 if that makes sense. Our short answer questions were a lot easier.
