IMO you made the right choice. with pracs and stuff its not too hard to get full marks. just be thorough. exams and assignments is the same. you can get mid 80s easy. to get 90s the difference is being thorough. that said if you get mid 80s at school youd probably get 90s in hsc. bio has lotsa half page/page responses these days. you need to know you facts but bsing can get you through the exams if you know a thing or two. you can never actually bs in anything and get good marks. you have to have some foundation to bs from.

modern is bloody boring unless you love essays. modern has probably the biggest syllabus to cover in the hsc. the exam has 30 marks worth of WW1 10m short answers, and 2x 10m 2 page essays. then a large 20m essay on an option. and two shorter 10m essays related to a person and that option. and then a very big essay on an international study 30m. its a huge exam and you never know how you finished it in time. you need to be interested or listen the whole time or you fall behind. that happened to me. it was so boring so i dropped it 6 weeks before the hsc. bio in yr 11 is not great but its better. it has alot on the environment. kinda like geo at times. yr12 bio is fantastic. a lot of human biology and genetics. do bio

btw neither bio or modern have bad scaling. they are above average for scaling. bio is 3rd highest for sciences. modern has much higher scaling than ancient actually (which is wierd)
