Haha. Snap. Do it on the bus?The Kaiser said:I entered, but all of Year 11 Biology in my school has an excursion to the Australian Museum on the same day, so I don't know exactly what time/date the group of 4 would be doing it.
Coan said apparently you guys will probably do it during sport when we come back =/.The Kaiser said:I entered, but all of Year 11 Biology in my school has an excursion to the Australian Museum on the same day, so I don't know exactly what time/date the group of 4 would be doing it.
It's like a UNSW Science Competition where you do testing. You get something like HD, D, Credit or Participation. If you are really good, you might be picked as one of the 20 people to compete for national places.marcquelle said:never heard of it, what is it cause i might sign up for it
A 50% overall will get you a HD. No idea about anything less.lyounamu said:Does anyone also know what level of result is needed for HD, D, Credit or other awards?
I am just getting over 70% in the multiple choice and I reckon that will only get me a credit...
Top 2 for my school, basically. :uhhuh:Aerath said:A 50% overall will get you a HD. No idea about anything less.
Marcquelle - ask your Science teachers. But the exam is very expensive for the school, and they usually only let the first few in the grade do each Olympiad (at our school, they only let the Top 5 in each of the Sciences do it, and if there were any places left, they offered it to people 'lower' down on the chain).
Well, unless you're paying for yourself, your school has to pay for you.lyounamu said:Top 2 for my school, basically. :uhhuh:
I didn't know that school had to pay for us though.
I didn't pay. I always thought it was free though when my teacher asked me to compete in the olympiad. Same for Chemistry. But I am not doing Chem, Chem sucks.Aerath said:Well, unless you're paying for yourself, your school has to pay for you.
Well, firstly, your school would actually need to be part of the Olympiad program for you to participate, to say nothing of the fact that papers went out to all schools about three weeks ago, so if they haven't already signed up for it, then there's very little chance that your school can have any students participating.marcquelle said:thats ok i'm first in yr 11
Which paper?lyounamu said:Help me with Q 12, 18 16 & 42, I don't understand the question, I have no idea basically. Please help me with any of the questions.
C3 and C4 refers to the method of carbon fixation in photosynthesis in different types of plants. Dont worry if you dont know it, its nothing that gets taught in high school.lyounamu said:By the way, what's C3 and C4 Photosynthesis?
We're starting H.S.C Bio next week, even though for the past three weeks, we've been doing nothing but Moodle Assignments, which no one ever does anyway, and haven't really covered anything past the Archaea topic in "Life on Earth." How are we coming Top 5 in the state for Bio again?Aerath said:Haha. Snap. Do it on the bus?
Typical of Hagan to fuck other Science teachers over with his organisation (or lack of it, thereof) skills.
That's great, I hate sport!12o9 said:Coan said apparently you guys will probably do it during sport when we come back =/.
If you're getting 70% now you'll be assured a position in the national team.lyounamu said:Does anyone also know what level of result is needed for HD, D, Credit or other awards?

That's just on Multiple Choice. I would probably flunk the next sections. The Kaiser said:If you're getting 70% now you'll be assured a position in the national team.
Well, our head Science teacher says, we'd be lucky to get 40% of the questions given, and that would be a great result, so I'm assuming a score of 70% or higher would get you a prize, or callback or whatever. It depends on the other students taking this exam.lyounamu said:That's just on Multiple Choice. I would probably flunk the next sections.
And I never knew that 70% would get you the national team or whatever.
