Bluetooth is a protocol devised by a worldwide standard, so I would imagine it has an IEEE designation, and while I haven't personally used it myself, because of this standard products have to meet, they are generally quite sound devices to own, and are rather compatible.

Normal wireless would use Infrared technology, or its own properitary connection standards. Therefore being better as Bluetooth doesn't require a line-of-sight, whereas IF does.

This might have been at the early days of Bluetooth, but I remember reading about a Bluetooth demonstration where they wanted to connect an Ericsson, Motorola and Sony device. It didn't work.

Normal wireless nowdays don't usually use IR - radio is the preferred option.

For that price, I'd much rather go with normal RF wireless instead.
