How do bonus points work? how can you acquire them?

Depends on uni. But a quick google search will help rather than me or anyone else explaining

Depends on uni and which degree you want to enter. Most unis (except USYD which has flexible entry) have them and there is often a limit ~5 but can increase if you're qualified for EAS.
For example if you want to do Engineering at UNSW you can get 5 bonus points in relevant subjects such as Maths, physics, chem etc.

You also can get extra bonus pts for extracurricular activities and in my case piano (liek my sole reason continuing piano)
