Whoa, serious?

I almost cried when Scout was standing in front of Boo's house, he closed the door behind him and she said she never saw him again :(

The Hollow Man by Dan Simmons made me feel pretty sad:

Oh hey guys, meet Robby.

Robby was born deaf, blind and retarded due to methadone abuse by mother. He is 13 years old and weighs 200 odd pounds. He has no fine motor skills, and can only make bizarre mewling sounds. He is beaten by mum's pimp/meth supplier and is found barely alive and conscious (though this is a stretch) at the bottom of a portaloo.

Also, the titular character's wife dies, first chapter.

Duncton Quest by William Horwood made me cry. First and only book I have ever got teary over.

I don't think Saving Francesca was sad exactly...I loved it, I thought it was better than Looking for Alibrandi although it wouldn’t make a movie, I like all Francesca’s friends. Especially Siobhan. How do you pronounce that?

It's generally pronouced "sha-von"

Really??? That's interesting. In my head, when reading, I've been pronoucning it as it's spelled. Like "See - oh - barn".

~ Ugly by Constance Briscoe...it's horrible to think that a mother could treat her child like that

yeah. definitely My Sister's Keeper. I'm like the 4th to mention it. I really got emotional when the dad realises it's Anna in the car. So sad. :(

Also, I cried reading Chinese Cinderella. When her mother slaps her. So sad. but that was like 3 years ago. It'd probably have the same effect now though.

Hmm theres plently of sad and emotional books that i have read. Lets see, the book thief by Markus Zusak, Memoirs of a geisha by Arthur Golden, Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin and Marley and Me by John Grogan.

Ooh I almost forgot the holocaust stories I've read like; the children's house of Belsen by Hetty Verlome, and I will plant you a lilac tree by Laura Hillman

Yeah I'm pretty pathetic when it comes to sad books.

ps I love you by Cecilia Ahern- I swear I cried every second chapter or so, apparently the movie is no where near as sad, but I refuse to watch it.

and

Checkers- John Marsden; Why?? Why did you have to pick that ending, I was so shocked and after reading 3 morbid books of his I gave up on him as an author.
