Thats what i'm askin... i realise that being goth is more than black clothes

but what is the lifestyle/defining factors of a goth? Its not as clear cut as other sterotypes

ive been stereotyped as being a goth a few times.
only coz i went out one night wearing a black and white checkered skirt, a black and grey union jack shirt, a black hat and black and pink shoes.
i dont know how it looked goth, but one of the guys who i was with was positive i was goth.
but now im being stereotyped as emo.
so now i dont what i am

Nah. There are several types of goth. Well, at least two:

1) Ugly goths
2) Hot goths

1) Ugly Goths

- Like to absorb themselves in satanic ritual and sanguine art in an attempt to deal with their lack of control over their own lives/appearance/psychosocial state

2) Goths

- Like black clothes and makeup but without the ideology.

I'm 2). I hate 1)'s.

So if anyone else is a 2) would they pray tell.

eah, it' popped up everywhere at some point in time, mainly because its an incredibe photo... there was even a fiasco a while back with some guy trying to sell rints of it on Ebay.

Haha... the goth subculture... it's marginally less a flash in the pan than emo... the whole thing was a fashion offshoot of '60's punk that's built a haphazard ideology around its appearance.

It's dressup, not a subculture.
