The swastika was not originally a bad thing...popular culture went and hijacked it's meaning.

Just to clarify, the swastika isn't a bad thing. A swastika is a shape and is used in many religions and cultures.

Just because of the hakenkreuz's specific use in western society does not mean that it is 'now' a bad thing... If it were, I don't think it would be over millions of sacred artefacts world-wide. Hence, in Germany (where Nazi era artefacts are banned), hakenkreuzs are illegal, not swastikas.
