It's very interesting that in NSW the ALP leader would is the kind of rich, sophisticated man while the Liberal leader is portrayed as a "battler".
now all you have to do is realise that you're too good for the Liberals and become a labor supporter.Not-That-Bright said:Letting out in parliament that there's a listening device in a suspected criminals home?
What an idiot... I am ashamed to be a Liberal supporter today.
Bob Carr's ability to make the trains run on time is admirable. Brogden's inability to exploit this is undeniable.leetom said:At least my party doesn't expose police secrets in current operations.
Bob Carr's leadership and political ability are admirable. His brilliance as Premier is undeniable.
I dont think you've really qualified why state politicians are worse than federal politicians. Rather than childish, I see all parliament sittings having a more egotistical aspect, which is inevitable when you have two sides both wanting power (one with & one without). I suppose this comes down to the idea of politics still being a man's world, with feminine methods of dispute resolution etc. ignored (many women MPs unfortunatly seem to conform to this).tWiStEdD said:The question, and i think its a far more important one, i ask is 'Do we need a State Parliament?'
I think that you would be better off asking whether the relevant member of the state parliament cares... Bob Carr is only the Premier, much like John Howard is only the Prime Minister (i.e., it's the party/coalition/government that matters more so than the leader). Besides, how do you know that he doesn't care? Even if he himself may not address such issues on a regular basis, do you know whether the relevant minister cares, or whether the local members are letting their superiors (be it government or opposition) know of any regional/rural concerns?Not-That-Bright said:I think it's pretty important iron woman, does Bob Carr really care about something happening to some outback community? no.

Some liberal supporters consider labour as working class and lower class whereas liberals are upper class and middle classNot-That-Bright said:However similiar... i am forced to think there must be SOME fundamental differences...
People here who support the ALP often see howard as some sort of monster, i have heard 'hitler' used to describe him. They feel that the Liberal party is 'evil'. Now this is not all ALP supporters but alot of them.
Alot of Liberal party supporters feel that the ALP supporters are 'commies, hippies'. They somehow manage to consider the ALP as a communist, or socialist party. Not all Liberal supporters but alot of them.
There is a big gap, but i feel it gets smaller as we get older because alot of it's just bullshit.
