Building $900 Computer (2 Viewers)

Good day to you, fine sirs.

Since I'm moving to Sydney, I'm going to require my own PC.

It's going to mainly be used for internet, typing documents and the occasional last gen game (War 3, Civ 3).

This is what I've got so far:

CONSTRUCTION: EYO $55
CPU - AMD Sempron 3000+ S754 $133
MOBO - Asus S754 K8N $86
RAM - Geil Dual Channel PC3200 400MHz DDR (2x512)
HDD - 120GB Maxtor SATA $115
VIDEO - Asus Radeon EAX700-X/TD 128MB PCI Express $160
SOUND - Onboard
NETWORK - Onboard
CD/DVD - Benq DVD/CD burner with Nero - $79
CASE - ChyungFan (?) CF-7029 400W $87

Would someone be able to help me and point out anything that doesn't match somethings specifications and if they have a better piece of hardware than what I've put down.

I'd also like to know whether anyone knows of a cheaper place than the one I am using. www.eyo.com.au

Anything I've forgotten, or any input would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Also, I'm a complete noob when it comes to computers, so would you recommend against me buying the parts and trying to build it myself? I'd have to find a guide or something to help me build it.

I'd go a 6600gt instead of the x700 (it's like $40 more and performs a lot better), and I dunno that you need to be spending that much on a case.

Unless you've already got one then a good monitor would add at least $200 to the budget.

Keyboard & Mouse at the cheapest costs $20

Any chance for warranty, depending on the warranty length and company.

All those small yet essential computer gears are often overlooked and people ended up paying more than planned.

You're right I should go for a cheaper case. I'll have a look at the 6600gt too.

Sorry. I should have said I already had a cheap monitor and keyboard/mouse.

The warranty is 1 year parts and two years labour.

Where are you located? You might be better off purchasing from a store rather than online. 6600GTs are cheap in SYdney $160

Ditch that video card, especially since your standard S754 K8N mobo doesn't offer PCI-x16. Consider a 6600GT AGP solution instead. Infact, if you don't game that much, you won't even need something like that. Otherwise, looking good.

seen as ur building this on the cheap "CD/DVD - Benq DVD/CD burner with Nero - $79" is a waste of money, find something cheaper like around 50$

case is 2 dear, u can get a bargain basement secondhand case for like 2$ , i would go with that

10 minutes? Why, if that's the time it takes you to unpack everything, hook it all up and do a quick operations evaluation, put your money where your mouth is and build it for him, since you seem to know him personally eh?

By the way, opening your eyes may help you see things clearer, Serius. If you've built computers in the past, or are confident in their operation, building yourself seems viable. But this guy here has continuously asserted his lack of knowledge on computers. So stop trying to act like a big man and understand that paying a fee on construction is often most appropriate for people under his circumstances. But again, you said it only takes 10 minutes for someone like yourself, so I'm sure you can do it for him.

Jack can build is own comp, iam not spending a heao of time traveling and building just to save him a bit of money. Its a learning experience and important to know how to do it

Plus it's not relevant how long those IT guys take to do it.. they could take 2 minutes and it still wouldn't matter, since it's still gonna take Damage Inc. freakin' ages, ya know? It took me maybe 90 minutes to build my first computer, having not seen anyone build one before, it's really not that difficult.

probably the cheapest store overall. maybe, try building it yourself? it would be fun and enjoyalbe experince. i personally havent built a computer, but i would, if i was going to buy a computer. just look online, get sum books and magazines, they got guides with plenty of help about building a computer.
