by how much does our raw mark differ by our aligned mark? (1 Viewer)

I don't think that the BOS releases exact numbers, but I'm pretty sure that they differ by quite a bit.

The best advice I can give on this issue (having been on the aligning process for Modern History for some years) is that the lower your raw mark the more you will have your mark aligned upwards.

If your raw mark is in the 90s then it might go up by 1 - 2 marks but if your raw mark is in the 20s then it could go up by 20+ marks. It depends on where they draw the cutoff lines for each of the bands e.g. if a Band 5/6 cut-off is set at 86% then the marks from 86 - 100 have to be crammed into 90 - 100 so a maximum of 4 mark increase but if the cut-off for Band 2 is 26% then that mark will go up by 24 marks to reach the magical 50%.
